productivity.

this weekend will go down in the history of my life as the most productive weekend of my life. i packed it full of projects.... big projects and small ones.

friday was was 100% prep. i perused the aisles of target to mentally prepare myself for my future storage needs for the great office organization project that would start the next day. having decided to stop by on my way home from work, i didn't know the measurements of any one space.... not my existing shelves, not the height or width of my closet {must maximize on every square foot}. so i looked... and soaked it in... and let the ridiculous cost of rubbermaid totes soak into my soul. the very soul i was about to sell in trade for this thing called Organization.

and, fortuitously, i found these floating shelves on a clearance end cap for $4. these were exactly the simple, minimalist shelves i've had in mind for my bathroom. there are pretty bathroom products and there are the mundane ones. i wanted somewhere to show {and make most easily accessible} the pretty ones. like perricone's super line?  get outta town, i could kiss it on the lips.

so on sunday morning, when i maybe should have been getting ready for church, i talked myself into thinking i could tackle this simple, real quick project. which it was. but even still, thanks to the wonder of psssst, my morning routine was real quick.

on saturday, though. saturday started bright and early with diet cokes, cranberry teas, and mega water bottles to sustain us through the most thorough clean out of the craft room. bestie jen and i pulled every single thing from every single shelf and organized it. not that it was unorganized before..... it was just really really full. last time i tackled the craft room, there was enough space for everything i owned.... but no more. so every box, every pot, every basket was brimming full.

we bought all the rubbermaid bins from target's shelves, we got sidetracked at least 17 times.

the office supply aisle... because there was nothing in my bag to use to cross things off my shopping list.
the men's button down aisle... because what else does a girl want to wear with her leggings on a saturday afternoon other than an oversized men's flannel button down?
the season aisle... where a mini magic bullet and stand mixer were on sale for $9.99 and ipad mini screen protectors were just a dollar. i don't even have an ipad mini.... but i want one!

if there was a one way glass set up in target, the marketing team on the other side of the glass would have surely been high fiving and cheering for having caught their prime demographic doing exactly what the focus groups suggested we would be doing in their store. for hours

throw in a visit to home depot... and a piece of peg board cut too large to fit in jen's trunk... and a walk of shame back to the lumber department, looking every bit the helpless women we were.

and then we cleaned. and jen made sense of the things i could not wrap my head around. and when i suggested one thing, she improved up on it and suggested a better thing. and we finished! we did everything we set out to do! it was the best saturday.
