i went to the circus!
I WENT TO THE CIRCUS.
my life-long dream come true - i saw elephants {in sequins!} holding tails and trunks, magic tricks, clowns, tigers jumping through rings of fire, trapeze artists, high wire acts... the whole thing! i was a six year old version of myself, awed at everything before my eyes.
we were five grown adults at the circus. no kids in sight. my people are so good to humor my circus dreams.
i had dinner with the brickyard buffalo girls the day my felt balls went on sale on their site. it was equal parts celebrating the sale {they sold out in a day!} and celebrating the simple idea that we are four davis county girls - together at last. none of this driving-forty-minutes-for-friends biznazz. there is awesomeness all around - as close as 10 minutes up the road.
this photo is so representative of our night. so much laughing, so much ridiculousness, and so clearly - i'm foolishly falling all over them with adoration. we are four of a kind and they light up my life. smiling from ear to ear after a night with these girls. also, we have big plans for more felt balls!
this.
{that's the look all the boys make after i've had my way with them}
and then a weekend full of nothing but felt balls, address labels, padded envelopes and the toxic fumes of too much sharpie. i got 125 orders out the door in two days time and became my very own sweat shop worker.
in advance of the brickyard buff sale, i overhauled my packaging. 50
felt balls fit perfectly inside a drawsting muslin bag {with red
stitching!}, stamped with a mini maypole stamp. like this:
also not pictured, a birthday celebration for holly. my nearest and dearest, life-long friend. before we were friends, our moms were friends. these are the people you hold to with an iron grasp. we've got the friendship other people sigh and wish they had.... from childhood to college to when-we-grow-up-we're-going-to-live-next-door-to-each-other to lazy saturday nights in your pajamas and all your guards down... and three main courses from the greasy mexican drive-thru {because, remember, the guards are down}
instead of celebrating a birthday out on the town, we celebrated at my house, with enough chinese take out to feed the duggars. we wore pajamas {apparently, a very critical element to our friendship}, we started with mcdonald's diet cokes.... with a 12 pack for back up. we laughed about old boyfriends {sometimes we shared} and their old girlfriends, we cried genuine tears about real life, hard things, and we ate lotsa lotsa double blueberry donuts.
it was the night dreams are made of. just like our friendship.
